The Pengin Patch Holiday Shop is a great way to teach budgeting, problem solving and independance.  Even before the shop starts, children can work with their parents to plan their budget. One of our favorite teaching opportunities is having children earn money! Parents can give their child a list of chores to accomplish  and decide how much they will earn. They will feel so proud to spending their own money at the holiday shop picking out just the right gifts. During the shop, students will get to experience shopping on their own ( teachers and parents are always there to help if needed) and use reasoning to balance wants and needs.
